Not at all impressed by Jamie Oliver’s Fifteen’s customer service – but they redeemed themselves on the day!

Welcome to Fifteen Cornwall, Watergate Bay, Cornwall.pdf (260 KB)
View this on posterous

On Sunday I booked a table for three at Fifteen in Watergate Bay this coming Friday.

The menu was quite clearly advertised at £19.50 on the Web site (I hope Posterous can make sense of the PDF screen capture I’m attaching), but in the confirmation e-mail, the price is £25.45 – more than £5 more per person. The e-mail asks me to ‘Please email or call us to make a note of your individual requirements’, so I e-mailed back, pointing out the discrepancy.

I haven’t heard anything back, and last time I looked the same price was being advertised on the site. Pretty poor, don’t you think?

Update, 5 November: I called Fifteen and was told the price is £25.45 at weekends; £19.50 in the week. Now why the heck doesn’t it say that anywhere, and why does it take a phone call to clear up the muddle? As the owner of all Jamie’s books (bar one) and a subscriber to the magazine, I hope the food’s worth it. I really don’t want to be let down.
Update, 7 November: Our party had grown to five. The food was great; the wine was wonderful; the service was just right; the atmosphere marvellously informal. There’s nothing at all to complain about the restaurant. We all loved it. And, to think we almost cancelled because Fifteen almost destroyed our trust before we got there.
We’ll be back!

To: fifteencornwall@btconnect.comHi there

Thank you for your confirmation. We’re very much looking forward to coming to Fifteen on Friday, but are disappointed that lunch menu is more than £5 more expensive than advertised on your Web site – see under Wild Cornwall on your Home Page (attached).
Best regards
David
